About PHPSE
People Helping People South East (PHPSE) a non-profit organization assisting
single moms, widows, and low-income families in need of help with the interior
or exterior of their homes. Our goal is to help an individual or family
get beyond their current circumstances of living within a crisis and our
hope is once they are beyond that situation they will be likely to help
someone else. Our team includes two local builders, Helton Homes (www.heltonhomes.net)
and Promise Homes (www.promisehomesonline.com)
who have been the back bone to making this all happen.
Founded in 2007, PHPSE has been helping families all across the Triangle
area. Some examples of PHPSE's work in the Triangle area include the Goolsby
Project. Sara Goolsby is a widowed woman in her 70's from Apex whose roof
and bathroom were falling apart and unfit for living. PHPSE replaced her
roof, repaired her bathroom, and patched holes throughout her home. PHPSE
has also recently completed several other projects, one included work on
a home in Fuquay-Varina owned by Mary Shelton. Mary Shelton is a disabled
woman who received a majority of her income from an apartment she rents
on her property. When her rental was found to not be up to code, PHPSE worked
to bring the property up to code. This work included, replacing siding,
painting, repairing the deck, and arranging electrical and plumbing work.
Through the generosity of our builders, their trade partners, local churches
and volunteers, PHPSE has been able to help many families and continues
to do so each month.
